Fredricksburg By Way Of Luckenbach

This was my surprise weekend getaway my hubby had planned for us. And girls, let me tell you he did an awesome job surprising me and planning our trip! We stayed at a beautiful lodge called Angels Lodge Above The Creek. My hubby had a beautiful arrangement of flowers waiting for me in our room when we arrived. Score Jeffery! Our room was called Cupid's Corner. It was very cozy and romantic and best of all, it had a huge jacuzzi tub in the bath. Score Jeffery! We took pictures of our room but you can see it and all the other amenities at their website http://www.angelsabovethecreek.com/. I loved everything about this place so much that we are planning a return trip in the winter time so we can enjoy the outdoor fireplace there. Score Jeffery! Another wonderful thing is the shopping in Fredricksburg. Score Jeffery! We shopped and shopped until he dropped Saturday. I have to admit, he was a trooper and went wherever I wanted to go. Before we even made it to Fredricksburg, we detoured through Luckenbach. Score Jeffery! When we arrived, we had been on the road all day, we were tired, it was hot and there were quite a few people there so we didn't stay very long. We browsed the Post Office/General Store (see me in front of the Post Office) and headed out deciding to stop back by Sunday on our way home. I left there Sunday with t-shirts for our family and a huge Luckenback, Texas sign to hang in my garage. I think I'm most excited about that purchase. All in all it was a wonderful weekend and my hubby scored major hubby points for all the little things he did. I'm so proud of him for the awesome weekend getaway he planned for us. I was in tears when we arrived at the lodge because I was so impressed with what he chose for us. I can't wait to see what he plans for our 20th, 25th, 30th, etc. Do you think he'll get the hint??

15 Years

Today Jeff and I are celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary! 15 years...just doesn't seem like that much time has passed but when you add up the years, I guess it has been that long. A lot has happened in 15 years, we've had some really great times and some really horrible times. The good has far outweighed the bad and I'm so very happy to have Jeff in my life. I feel like he knows me better than I know myself at times. He can anticipate my reaction to just about anything and has learned over the years that the little things in my life mean the most. I adore the children he has given me and the life he has provided for us. I'm just so grateful we have stuck with each other through all our rough times. We are leaving tomorrow for a weekend getaway to...somewhere. I have no idea where we are going. Jeff has made all the arrangements so I know nothing and I love that I know nothing because over the years, its been a challenge to keep things from me. I usually ask too many questions, he gets frustrated and just tells me so the surprised is spoiled. But this time, this time I'm excited that he planned it all himself and is surprising me. He did tell me I would find out tomorrow morning where our destination weekend getaway will be. So I will pack tonight and anxiously await the morning. Thank you, thank you Jeff (My Love) for all the wonderful years together. I love you more than you will ever know and I can't wait to share many more years together.

Sliders & Rollers

My family is a lot of fun to be around, but you have to be on top of your game when you are around them, especially my brothers, and you have to expect a lot of teasing! My brother Tony is a master at this. If you set him up in a conversation, you can bet he's gonna jump on it. As such was the case last night. It was just one of those days for me and I was not on top of my game. I can't remember exactly what happened the first time but we were sitting on the patio at Dad's and I either said something or didn't get something right away and Tony jumped right on it. A "Steve Wannabe" is what he called me. ("Steve" is a whole other post!) It only escalated from there for me. Later, after we finished dinner, we were discussing the menu for the week our family will be at the beach house. We had one night open on the menu and my brother says..."we can do sliders and rollers." My face obviously gave away my confusion as to what the heck sliders and rollers were, so my sister says, "hams and hots". That I knew--hamburgers and hot dogs! So the teasing started again and again I defended my bad day, etc. Tony is a whiz, a master if you will at this teasing thing. He has something for everything and over the years, his mastery has rubbed off on me. I've picked up a few things and use them every now and then. It has also put me on my toes (most of the time) and sometimes, just sometimes I can come back pretty quick with something. I will always remember what "sliders and rollers" are now...and for the record dear brother...I was telling the girls at work about it and they didn't know what sliders and rollers were either! My post would not be complete without a picture of me and my brother Tony. This particular picture was taken at Texas Motor Speedway at a race a few years ago. Love those races and I love my brother...even when he picks and teases.

Milestones & Organization

My daughter hit another milestone over the weekend. She rolled from her back to her belly. I had laid her on the floor while I took care of some things...walked out of the room, came back and she was on her belly. I was so excited so I rolled her back over and searched for my camera. While I was searching, she did it again! I rolled her over once more to see if I could capture this moment on video...and I did! I tried to get her to roll the other way...belly to back but she wouldn't do it. She's done that several times in her bed but wouldn't on the floor. She rolls now effortlessly and its amazing to me. I'm so happy for my Isabella & this new accomplishment of hers.

My son also hit another milestone last week. He was promoted to the 4th grade!! Whew! His last six weeks weren't the best but he still managed to pull out the A-B Honor Roll for the year. I worried so much about him this past year. Moving into the 3rd grade is tough--there are lots of changes and more responsibilities. For some kids its an effortless change, but for some like my son who has learning disabilities, it can be difficult. My son did it all and at times made it look effortless. I'm not saying we didn't have to stay on him and help keep up with things but he did it. I'm so proud of him. Such a good kid, that Christopher!

Organization...something I am lacking in my house right now and its killing me!! Killing me!! We have been in the process of remodeling the house for quite some time now and anyone who knows me knows that I have been ready for this to be done with. I want my house back. My goal is to take my house back this summer--I just need to share this with my hubby! Ha! Seriously, the school year begins at the end of August, I want to have the remodeling done or at a point we can stop for now, clean up and move all the unwanted remodeling stuff out and have my home organized and clean and pretty for the new school year. I want us to be able to keep up with everything better. Bills, projects, appointments, laundry, cleaning, cooking...etc. I think you get the picture. So that's my goal...now, just need to get my hubby motivated with me so we too can have an accomplishment, a milestone if you will.

Too Cute!

I wanted to share this picture of my kids that I took last week. This is my favorite picture of them by far. Don't you just want to gobble them up?
