Another Cold One

And I'm not talking about a cold beer....bummer!

Its another cold day in southeast Texas...ice and snow was expected so the schools shut down for the day which means Bella's daycare was closed as well.  Baby girl came with me to work...aren't we precious?

One of the other ladies in the office brought her girls to work as well.  We set them up in the board room watching movies, playing games, coloring, etc.  They were a great help with Bella.

The day hasn't turned out near as bad (weather wise) as they anticipated, although I'm hearing the temps are dropping and there has been sleet and snowflake sightings.  Wouldn't hurt my feelings none if they told us to go home but I'm not going to hold my breath on that one.

I do wish I was snuggled up in my pajamas at home watching a good movie. Oh well.  Guess I'll get back to work, I've stretched my lunch as far as I can.  Y'all have a good one and stay warm!

Flippin' Cold

A nice little wintery blast made its way through Texas yesterday and left all of us freezing our butts off!  This girl has been enjoying it, but wishes some of the snow had made its way further south. We got rain.  And then it froze.  Well, some of it did.  It was enough for the school to delay start-up a couple of hours. Christopher was thrilled and had no problem whatsoever crawling back into bed to get some more sleep.  I cozied up on the couch with a quilt and coffee and watched the weather...until the princess woke up, then it was Disney Junior-yay me!  I'm not sure what I did...turned funny picking up my 5 year old to put her in the car last night I guess, but my shoulder killed me all night.  I didn't sleep for shit.  And let tell you, its hitting me about right now.  The 2-hour school delay allowed me to hang back so I could get the kids to school and get the heating pad on my shoulder.  It is the weirdest pull...can turn one way just fine and feel absolutely nothing but turn another and holy moly, I can't breathe.  Sucks to get old people.  (Okay...maybe I should just quit picking up and holding the 5-year old).  I will take this into consideration, just for my own safety.  Ha!

All bundled up ready to head out into the cold...

Icicles hanging from the mailbox...don't see this very often!

Me and the boy....damn he's handsome!

Monkey took this as I was driving him to school...Purdy dang cool!  Again, you don't see this very often in South East Texas!!

And lastly...this one doesn't have anything to do with the cold but last night I was digging through pictures and came across the picture on top of us kids with momma and daddy.  Tears fell.  I sent the picture to my siblings and my sister put this little collage together and posted it on Facebook. I stole borrowed it from her.  Family is what's important.  No matter what, they are always there.  Our family is close and I love that. I cherish all my time with them and I'm so very blessed that I can go to them for anything.  Love them more than my luggage!
Y'all stay safe and stay warm!  Have a good one!  Thanks for always coming back to see what I'm writing about.

This Man

I'm sitting here thinking about this amazing man who has walked into my life. This man has made me feel more special in the last few weeks than any other time in my life.  This man treats me like a princess when I am with him, and stands tall and proud when he is next to me.  This man tells me every single day how beautiful I am just by being me and that I have flipped his world upside down in the best possible way.  This man takes my breath away every time I see him or when I recall a special moment we have shared.  This man calms me just enough to still feel the butterflies when he takes my hand as we walk together.  He is comfortable.  He fits.  He is gentle, caring, sweet, nurturing, hard-working and a jokester, but always respectful to me.  This man said it best the other day...."there is something about us that is shaping up to be an absolutely wonderful love story".  I have discovered with this man that butterflies do still exist and that it is very possible to find someone you are absolutely crazy about and who you miss the very minute he leaves you.

I think I'm in trouble....

#missyeveryday2014 Week 2

Can you say EPIC FAIL?!?  I knew this challenge was going to be difficult but I really wanted to give it a whirl because truthfully, I probably take a picture of something every day.  However, when it came down to choosing and posting, I became VERY picky.  Yes I know that's hard to believe but its very true...I'm picky. There I said it.  Aren't you proud of me?

So I'm here to give you the second week...beyond that I failed miserably.

Day 8
Chicken Noodle Soup, comfy pajamas, quilt and Gibbs on TV.  Mommas was feeling like crap so I called in all my special things to help me feel better.

Day 9
Happy 5th Birthday to my sweet Bella!!

Day 10
Just laying around.  Love my boy...he is always quiet.

Day 11
Enjoying the flowers Daddy & Lena brought Bella for her birthday party.  You know me and fresh flowers. :)

Day 12
Target run with my favorite 5 year old...

Day 13
Toot Marie!!  You never know what you'll get when she comes out of her room. #Hollywood

I missed Day 14, but did get in Day 15 before the EPIC FAIL I mentioned above happened.

Day 15
My love....

So there you have Week 2 of #missyeverday2014.  I can't promise I'll give you anything past this point.  I mean, there are pictures and I posted them but I didn't label them so technically they aren't #missyeveryday2014. We'll see how I do...

Y'all have a good one and stay tuned for a post on my amazing prince.

#missyeveryday2014 Week 1

I'm going to try something new this year and take at least one picture every day for an entire year and post it on Instagram!  Yep, that's 365 days....or in my case 364 since I've already missed a day (but damn I had a really good reason).  I got the idea from Shay over at Mix and Match Family who did this last year and is giving it another go this year.  I think its another great way to document my life and will be fun to look back at the end of the year to see what all took place. Like Shay, I'll share #missyeveryday2014 each week on my blog (or try to) or you can hop on over to Instagram and follow me there.

Day 1 - My Dammit Doll!!  Best gift ever from my niece Kristian. Oh how I love this doll. She has been tested a few times and works wonders!  Ha!

Day 2 - Beautiful sunset on my way home from work :)

Day 3 - Heading out the door with my little diva!

Day 5 - Running errands always goes better with a DP from Sonic.

Yep, that would be the temp the morning of Day 6....you don't see that very often in these here parts!

Day 7 - At the doctor with this handsome guy getting his soft cast off and staples taken out.

So there you have the first week of #missyeverday2014.  Stay tuned to see how I keep up with this.  I can already tell its going to be a challenge!

Y'all have a good one!

Its A Southern Thing

I had to steal borrow this from Laura over at Cowboy Boots & Baby Booties.  She saw it the other day at Pretty Southern.  Us southern girls stick together :).  I think the last one is my absolute favorite.  Thanks ladies!

Down here, there is no Pepsi. Everything is Coke. Even Pepsi is called Coke. True Southerners don’t like going North because up there, if you ask for Coke, all y’all get is freaking Pepsi.

In Northern states, iced tea is served with a box of sugar packets because Yankees are too lazy to actually blend sugar into the hot liquid to make sweet tea. Damn Yankees.

Life below the Mason Dixon line is so sweet, just like our tea and Coca-Cola. Southern accents over time have developed their own vocabulary. These words tend to come out with even more zest if the Southerner has been drinking bourbon.

Here’s a sampling of words only Southerners say
Y’all: it’s never “you guys” but “y’all”. We’ll know you’re a Yankee, or that your parents were Yankees, if you say “you guys”.

Fixin’ to: used to let your compatriot know what’s up. As in “I’m fixin’ to make me a drink”

Lagniappe: a little bit of something extra (especially for those form N’Awlins and the Gulf area)

Pocketbook: girls from the deep South’s middle-o’-nowhere areas are known to call it this instead of a purse.

Mash: Southerners don’t push things, we mash ‘em.

Po’Boy: a long sandwich, usually served with fried oysters, shrimp or fish. But in NOLA, your po’boy could even have plain deli meat. Po’Boys are really defined by their good, long crusty bread.

Buggy: it’s not a shopping cart, but a buggy

Might Could: a polite way of presenting your options

Caddywompus a.k.a. caddywonked: a more fun way to say sideways

Access Road a.k.a. Main Road: screw the term “service road”. If the D.O.T. is working on the highway, there’s only one road to get back on your route again and it’s via an “access road” or “main road”. And by the way, if you live in the South, that construction is going to take five years just to pave two lanes. Especially if it’s I-75 in Georgia or Florida. Same thing for I-85 in the Carolinas. Because of this tragic lack of getting the roads fixed, Southerners do not call our interstates “freeways” but “highways”. There’s nothing free about our highways (see GA-400).

Sweeper: as in run the sweeper referring to the vacuum

Made: whether you’re referring to a test you aced, a photo you took, or a baby you birthed, “made” is the verb
Changer or Clicker: you want me to pass you what? A remote control? Honey, that thing is called the changer or the clicker. There’s no controlling the remote in a Southern house. That darn thing will cause World War III, ‘specially in SEC football season.

Yankee: anyone from the North. Even if you’re from Washington D.C., you’re a borderline Yankee. But stay here long enough, plant some roots, and you’ll grow up to become a Southerner.

“Bless Your Heart”: if you’ve heard this, especially from a Southern woman, she doesn’t mean it. It’s her nice way of telling you to put on your grown up pants and deal with it. As said by one of our New York friends “I could shout a parade of Yankee-style expletives in your face and it wouldn’t be nearly as bitchy as bless your heart.”

Bella Turns Five

Let me start off by asking this question, how in the heck did you get to be 5 years old?!!?  You were just born yesterday my love.  I was there!  It is amazing to me how fast time truly flies when you're having fun but let me tell you something, it also flies when you have bumps in the road. I would have never envisioned these last five years of adjustment for all us but having you and your brother with me has made it easier to handle, and I wouldn't change one single thing because it has made all three of us a better family.

Oh my Bella, you are a mess for sure.  You are bossy, sassy, picky, loud, loveable, sweet and a total girlie girl but you will get down and dirty with the best of 'em, you just wear a tutu doing it!  You love pink everything, especially glipgloss (lipgloss) and if something sparkles, holy cow watch out because you will hear the highest pitched squeal ever.  Speaking of squeals, you do squeal at everything. You get excited about everything. You definitely are not quiet about it like your brother was.  You let everyone know about it.

What is it about turning 5 that is so special?  According to you, everything happens when you turn 5 because you will be a big girl!  We shall see if you stick to everything you said you are going to do which includes sleeping in your own bed.  We discussed this one the other day and you were all excited but last night, you were like "well but sometimes I need to sleep with mommy so I can snuggle".  Crap.  I'm all for snuggling but I have to say I'm also ready for you and your pile of animals to have your own place.

Sweet girl...Mommy loves you to the moon and back plus!  I'm thankful every day for what you brought back into my life.  You made an emptiness inside me not feel so empty.  Thank you my love.

Happy 5th Birthday from me and your big brother!!  We love you Toot Marie!!

Amazing

A handsome prince has walked into my life and I am giddy with excitement.  We have been talking to each other since Thanksgiving but had our first date this past Saturday and it was an amazing night....I didn't want to leave.  And no, I am not going to tell you all the details but know that I am smiling a lot, I am happy and I am excited to see where this goes.  He is sweet, he is funny, he is a gentleman and boy is he handsome!

Yep, I think he's got my attention....

Happy 2014!!!

Hey....where did you go?  It was getting close to ending the year and bam...you just disappeared man!  Oh wait, that was me!  I'm the one who blogs, you're the one who reads.  Oops!! Well Happy New Year to ya!!  Did you go out with a bang in 2013....or come in with a banging headache in 2014?  I know some people who did but I was not one of them.  I was a good girl.  We hung out at my brother's house...watched the Aggies (I even cheered, loudly I might add, for those maroon people), had a nice fire, watched the boys blow up firecrackers and stuff, toasted the new year with some champagne and called it a night!

Ready and waiting to get our fire started!

I absolutely love this moment of these two silly kids laughing.  So sweet....

I told Chris he needed to post this picture on Instagram with the caption "I pity da fool!" and see if any of his friends knew what it meant/where it came from.  He knows, but not sure others would.  Bella dang near fell over!  And just so you know...the exact same beads on her are on Chris in his picture.

I have decided I am not going to even attempt to record any resolutions this year because I will just wind up shooting myself in the foot.  I'll end up failing miserably as usual so I'm thinking I won't feel as bad if I don't actually record them.  Sounds good, right?  Just agree with me, its better. And just so you know...if I do by some odd miracle achieve one of my mental resolutions, I will so let you know about it.

Not a whole lot to report as of late...Chris (aka Gimpy) is doing great with his ankle, getting around on crutches like a pro.  We'll see how things go next week when he goes back to school. Not looking forward to that.  This is when he finally came back home to me...I was so excited to have him home again.  Being away from him after his surgery was tough.  I know it was just his ankle but this momma likes having her chicks close by when they are hurting...

Bella is still being a little diva princess hurricane/tornado as usual.  Get everything cleaned up, put away in HER room and bam....she comes home and scatters it all through the house again.  Stinkpot!

Anyway, I hope you stick around another year.  I'm doing something new that I will tell you about soon enough...gives me something else to write about and hopefully entices a teeny to want to come back and see what it is.  ha!

I hope everyone has an awesome 2014 filled with many blessings and lots of love!  Cheers!!
