Canton Finds

I have decided that I'm never going to remember to take pictures of my Canton finds (that isn't Christmas) in their new homes to share with you so I'll show you what I have so far and maybe later I'll get pictures of the Christmas stuff.

First, I will share views from the cabin we stayed at this trip.  We stayed at this particular bed and breakfast 3 years ago but not in this cabin.  We were a bit disappointed when we arrived expecting to be in the same place but we quickly learned they were putting us elsewhere, and we were going to have to share a kitchen, bathroom, etc.  We were not happy because that was not what we had reserved.  After the lady in charge made it back to house, she quickly straightened her husband out (bless his heart, he was very confused) and showed us to our very own cabin.

We loved sitting outside in the evening until the bugs started attacking us. The mornings were very cool so we would sit outside and drink our coffee.  So very relaxing.

Onto the goods.  Here they are at the cabin...bags and bags full of sweet finds.  There were also four bar stools Lindsey found that you can't see in this picture.  

Here's what belonged to me...

The galvanized reindeer and joy sign below are some of my Christmas finds.  I'm not sure you can tell, but the reindeer has an opening on top for you to decorate with.  I saw lots of great ideas in Canton so we'll see what I come up with for the Christmas season.  I may use the Christmas picks in the lower left side of the picture or I may find something else.  I also bought a couple new rolls of Christmas paper that I'm super excited about along with my sugar mold I FINALLY bought.  That is the wooden candle holder you see below.  Several years ago, I bought a twelve candle sugar mold. The wood is stained red and I have glass candle holders.  I still have it on the window sill of my bedroom.  I love it but I've wanted a smaller one for a while now.  I would always look and I would always pass on it.  This year I did not.  I did get metal candle holders and the orange candles smell so good.  They scream FALL!!  Haven't burn the candles yet.  Waiting for that cooler weather to come and hang around a little longer.  I'm weird like that.

Farmer's Market and Welcome signs were things I loved the first time I saw them and I still had a hard time pulling the trigger to purchase them. I don't know why, just did.  I guess because I'm Missy and that's what I do.  Hem-haw should be my middle name.  I don't know if you can see it well but sitting on the floor in front of my signs is a Christmas tree.  Its not any ole Christmas tree either.  This one holds Christmas cards. I'm really excited about that.  I don't have a great place for cards and I love to display them so this will be a great addition to our decor.  Now, I just have to find the perfect place for it when the time comes.

I've actually pinned ideas for a welcome sign on front porches.  Some days I love my front porch, other days I wish it were laid out differently.  Of course now, its the home of my small collection of jack-o-lanterns.  I think I might have a small obsession with them. 

Anyway, here's what I did with my welcome sign...

And here is my Farmer's Market sign hung in that space I dislike in my kitchen.  I sure do love my sign.  It fits in perfectly.

Many times when you are in Canton, you will see displays that give you ideas for decorating.  Such was the case this trip. We were in one of our favorite places, Paul Michael's when I saw a watering can with magnolias in it.  I just happen to have a watering can that was my Grandmother's.  I have used it for decorating over the years and for watering.  Most recently, it has been gathering dust in the garage.  I decided I would decorate with it again.  I really liked the magnolia leaves they had on display so I bought three of them and two magnolia flowers and planned to arrange them in my watering can.  By the way did you know that when you decorate in multiples, you are always supposed to have an odd number?  I learned that several years ago and it has stuck.  I can't tell you how many ladies we heard saying that to one another while shopping.

We made a trip back to Paul Michael's Saturday evening to pick up something one of the girls had been thinking about.  After looking around, I decided that I NEEDED seasonal picks to mix with my magnolia leaves during Christmas and Fall.  The above picture shows my "fall" mixed in with my magnolia.  Come Christmas, I'll show you what I whip up with the picks in the pictures above.  Maybe they'll go in my reindeer, maybe they'll go in my watering can.  Maybe, I'll not use them for either, who knows.  :)

That about does it for my Canton finds this year.  One other thing I purchased was a flyaway for Bella that she squealed over when I gave it to her. She has worn it a couple times and I have yet to take a picture. See, bad, bad blogger.

I'm So Excited

I'm so excited and I just can't hide it!

Everyone who has said good morning to me today has followed up with a "how are you?" and I'm all like "its my Friday!!!"  And they are like....you're so lucky!!  And I'm like, "yes I am'!!

It has finally cooled off a bit here so that helps with this funk I've been in. This weekend with girlfriends and shopping in Canton will help too. I have taken off a couple extra days so I will have a 5-day weekend.  I have the vacation time and well, it will be nice to have time to prepare for my trip and then have a day to recoup when I get back.  Bella is excited I will have some days off because that means she gets to be a car rider and mommy can pick her up.  Not so happy I'll be gone for a few days but she will be with her dad so she'll be fine.

I mentioned before that I really don't have anything particular I'm looking for this trip.  I've been kinda looking around the house, on the walls, etc to see where I might want to add something.  I do have some space above the cabinets in the kitchen that I could hang some things.  Its all empty because I really can't decide what to put there and too, some things are just too big.  I dislike that space.  If there is going to be space, then it should be open so I can display things on top of the cabinets.  Otherwise, the cabinets should go all the way to the ceiling. Its wasted space in my humble opinion. This trip will be more of a look and see what I find type deal.  I still want a large clock to hang in the living/dining area.  There was one I saw in Canton last year that I am still kicking myself for not picking up.  I have seen it in the homes of two other bloggers I follow and I am super jealous because it looks great and would be a perfect fit in my home as well.  I have searched for it online and found it but at a price I'm not willing to pay.  Not when I know it was much less in Canton. Maybe I'll find something else this year.  Or maybe, just maybe, one day I will finally walk into Hobby Lobby and buy a damn clock when they are half off and be done with it.  I'm telling you, I can be very indecisive about things and other times, I can make a quick decision.  Weirdo.

It will be fun trip to see what quirky things I find for home or if I find any Christmas gifts along the way. That is a whole other story.  I have two gifts purchased. One of my friends posted a picture of her wrapping gifts on FB the other day.  She has ordered everything online and is just about done. She wraps everything as it comes in so her kids can't see what she's bought.  I'm so jealous.

So there you have it....my excited but jealous and opinionated and somewhat indecisive Wednesday!

Canton Finds

I got home from work yesterday and decided that I would take pictures of my loot from Canton for y'all before I found homes for everything. Always thinking of y'all ;)

Here is the first picture I took before I realized I had left something out.

Close ups...

I bought 3 of these little Christmas wreaths.  Don't ask me why 3.  My answer is because two years ago I bought 3 Fall wreaths so I did the same here. Actually, I do remember a conversation Marilee and I had about decorating.  She had heard or was told or something that you should have an odd number of whatever if you have more than one.  I guess that's where the 3 wreaths come in.  Sounds good for now so let's go with that logic.  

My good ole Texas star for the wall.  Y'all, this was a hard decision.  Even after I found it, I hem-hawed about it.  I actually wanted the color stain to be in red but they were out of that particular style/color so I went with this turquoise. There are several vendors that carry this style star so even after I bought it (for only $35), I would see another vendor set up and would hold my breath hoping I didn't see a red one.  God must have really wanted me to have this one because no red was found.

Tin letters to place above the doorway to each of the kid's rooms and my tulle for gifts.  I found the letters at one of our favorite places to shop.  In fact, its always our first stop...Paul Michael Company.  You can shop online but I assure you its not near as much fun walking through their store.  They expanded their Canton location so now there are two buildings.  One houses more of the Christmas and holiday decor while the other is mostly large pieces of furniture.

Here, I tried to get a close up of the chunky candle sticks I found at a shop called Laurie Anna.  This is one of the last shops we go to on Sunday before skipping town.  You need to give yourself plenty of time when going because this store is overwhelming. There is so much crammed into this place but they make all look so pretty and awesome.  We saw these right as I walked in the door.  They only had two sizes so I opted for one large and two smaller ones because I wanted three.  They are a pewter color but there are hints of gold in them as well.  And no, I have NO IDEA where I'm going to put them but they will look awesome anywhere.  ha!  These were my splurge purchase.  There's always one when we go.  Its part of the fun.   

This picture was taken after I realized I had left out the Happy Holidays garland.  What I love about this garland is you can put it up Thanksgiving through Christmas. Perfect! 

Did you notice the fringy flyaway on the right?  I'm going to debut this beauty at the fair.  It was a fun purchase.  Not something I was looking for but when I saw it, I loved it.  I actually had spotted another one that was a little different but this one won the coveted spot in my closet.  

I realized as I was loading the pictures that I didn't take a close up of my lantern on the left.  That was something I went back to get at the Paul Michael Company. We actually went back for Marilee to get something as well but they were already sold out.  I just really love this lantern.  It has a hurricane glass cover to protect your candle so I totally put garland or whatever around it to decorate it.  I would really love to hang this on my front porch. I'm a sucker for lanterns.  I'm figuring that out quickly. I NEED to cover my back patio because I saw so much in Canton that I would love to decorate with-lanterns especially. Until that is done, there's no point because the weather will ruin it. Some day.

Including the star...I marked three items off my list.  I never really looked for a cross for my necklace and never saw the candle decor I mentioned either.  I did see a Christmas ornament I liked but was going to see what else was out there and then kind of forgot about it.  ha!  No Christmas gifts were purchased either.  

I will tell  you something that is on my hit list for next time is a windmill or a half windmill for my wall.  Here's what I'm talking about...

  

That would be so cool to have on my wall!  We totally found a shop that had them too but dadgum they were expensive so that purchase will have to wait.  

Anyway, there are my finds from Canton this trip.  I can't wait to go back and shop some more but I must replenish my Canton funds first.

What's Happening

Not much to report in my neck of the woods.  I could lie to you and tell you that I'm doing great and all is perfect.  But I'm not.  I miss Scott, plain and simple.  While the last several months were not the best, I miss what we had when we were together because quite honestly, it was just about perfect.  But then I remember all the reasons why we are not together anymore and that helps.  Just will take some time, and a lot of beer.

In the meantime, my little boo and I have been getting our pumpkin and mum fix.  We hit Lowes this past weekend and walked away with this...

Can we just stop for minute and talk about how big my baby looks in this picture?  I mean seriously, who does she think she is looking all sweet and mature and older than 6 years old?  We had the best time picking out pumpkins and mums.  She decorated the baby ones with paint and glitter and had tons of fun.  

Its little things like that and our walks in the evening time that are helping me stay out of the dark places.  My children are such good therapy for their momma. 

I have another exciting event coming up this weekend.  I'm going to Canton!!!!!!  Yeah baby, I'm so stinkin' excited.  Marilee and I waited too long to get a place booked but we were put on a waiting list for a cabin the Mill Creek Ranch Resort and they came through last weekend for us.  We had made alternate plans to go to Round Top but when they called we decided to go for it and head to Canton.  We won't be driving up until early Saturday morning but we are all so excited about getting together.  Marilee's daughter Cassie and daughter-in-law Lindsey are also going.  This will be Cassie's first time going. We can't wait to get her hooked!  We all have so much fun together. A weekend with girlfriends is just what I need.  Needless to say we are counting down and making our shopping lists.  Can you believe its been two years since we've been?  Crazy that we let that happen again.  

Anyway, here are a few things on my list....

I still have nothing on the wall.  Oh I've looked at other things over the last two years, even had a picture hanging there before ended up relocating it because it just didn't fit.  There is a wooden & metal star that I looked at two years ago in Canton.  I hem-hawed too long thinking about it because when I went back, it was gone.  I'm thinking that's what I really want for this wall and why nothing else has felt right.

The thing I love about Canton is that you always find something you weren't looking for that you fall in love with and must have it. You see it and say "oh that's coming home with me". Its awesome.

I'm Dragging

I am dragging ass big time today so I would say Canton was a success!  We laughed, we gossiped, we ate, we drank, we were silly and boy oh boy did we shop!!

Today I have been told the following....

Dang girl, you have bags under your eyes (no kiddin'!)
Wow, you look rough....(gee thanks)
Dang, you look tired....(I AM tired you perky little bottle of sunshine)
You must have partied hard (nope, but I shopped hard!)

Absolutely none of the comments above in parenthesis were muttered out loud.  Ok, well maybe the last one I did say, but the rest were muttered by the voices in my head and I'm pretty sure those voices were slinging daggers as well.
