Cheers to Friday

  

We made it through the week y'all!! Its been a tough one too.  It started with a holiday and is ending with really cold temperatures hitting us...FINALLY!

Wednesday was really the toughest part of the week.  We found ourselves back at MD Anderson with Tony for another procedure and a consult with the thoracic radiation/chemo team.  With the reality of the cancer hitting us square in the face, the consult was very overwhelming.   They have staged his cancer at 2, which is good...its still early, but its cancer.  All the doctors are very optimistic, and while Tony worries and is scared (he will probably never fully admit it), his humor is fully intact and he is still ready to kick cancer in its ass.

On to more happy things. I have been perusing websites and looking around for what I want my children to buy me for Christmas.  They gave me a Visa gift card so I like to say that whatever I end up purchasing with it comes from them.  They have already bought me a Pioneer Woman lunch tote. I love they know just what momma likes!

I have looked at these earrings from Nickel and Suede before.  They are lightweight and made of leather!  How cool is that!

They are so many colors but the two above are the ones I like best and would like to start out with. They also offer three different sizes so that's cool as well.  I love earrings.  If I were to have to decide which piece of jewelry is my favorite, it would definitely be earrings.  I love all jewelry and have quite a collection but earrings are my weakness.  Love them.  

I have also been looking at different home decor websites to see if anything strikes my fancy for the house.  So far I haven't seen anything I just have to have.  Canton has me spoiled when it comes to unique finds.

Nothing special going on this weekend although if you ask Bella, we will be discussing and planning her birthday party.  She will turn 8 this Monday and I am still trying to figure out how the hell that happened.  It is supposed to be cold, cold, cold all weekend so my plan is to stay inside in my pajamas and watch movies, takes naps, cook something warm and apparently plan a birthday party.  

Before I go, I must wish my sister and brother-in-law a happy anniversary.  I have no idea how many years they have been married but I wish them only the best and happiest of years!  I think its 16....

Fun Friday

Happy Friday the 13th Y'all!!

No matter what the date is, its Friday and that means its a good day for me.  You know how I love me some Fridays!

Picked up my latte for today and its really hitting the spot for me today.

I have to tell y'all, I've been silently participating in DADIM this year.  Just haven't taken pics of what I've been wearing.  I did the first day but failed miserably with pictures the other days.  I'm in my good ole jeans today though.  One of my reasons I love Fridays....its jeans day at work.  Not going to pass that up!

My sweet girl was being silly last night with me...making faces and just being a little ham.  We took several pictures but this one came out the best.  The others were blurry cause she was moving all over the place.

We have absolutely nothing really going on this weekend.  Desperately need to get the yard done.  Oh...I watered the garden last night, damn near drowned it.  I turned it on about 8:00 and totally forgot about it.  Woke up at 3:30 in the morning and remembered I never turned it off. Let's hope it enjoys all that water and doesn't decide to up and die on me.  I normally set a timer so I don't forget but the kids came home right as I was setting it up and all bets were off.  I also need to get a new sprinkler.  The one I have is a cheap one and doesn't want to rotate anymore.  Hey, you get what you pay for and in this case, I paid maybe $10.  This is its fourth garden so its time.    

I also need to get serious about replacing my mail box and the post.  The current mail box doesn't stay closed.  Come home many a days to find it wide open.  Its annoying.  We tighten the screws but they continue to come loose so its time.  The post also needs to be replaced. You can buy a purdy one at Lowes for about $40 so maybe we'll look at doing that this weekend.  Look out Lowes, here we come!  

My niece texted me this morning....wants to grab a beer this Saturday evening.  Might have to accept her invite.  That beer would taste pretty darn good after working in the yard all day. :)

I'm also on the hunt for spring/summer purse.  I'm really loving the tote bags I've seen around.  I always like to carry something colorful for this time of year but Big Mama mentioned this one at Target and I really like it

They also have this one, and it comes in a variety of different colors but I like the neutral with the colorful tassels.   

I also love me a good Fossil bag....I've never been disappointed in any Fossil purse I've purchased.  And let's face, a Fossil will last a lot longer than a straw Target tote.  Lots of options to consider :)

A belated Christmas present came in yesterday and I'm so excited!!  Mix and Match Cakes by Shay Shull, author of Mix and Match Family  and Pioneer Woman's latest cookbook!  I've heard great things about both of these books so I can't wait to start my reading this weekend.  :)

I like to think I have taken everything thrown my way and become a better person for it.  I'm definitely not bitter.  I may go off on a rant every once in a while about God's plan but I get over it and accept the path he's leading me down.  Honestly, I don't think there is a soul out there who hasn't questioned HIM every now and then.

I tried a chocolate brown color I've had for a while earlier in the week.  Its not Essie, but Nicole something or another.  Looked great on but by the end of day one, I had chips.  Could be the brand, could be that I've had it a while, who really knows.  I just know that Essie has been working for me and they have really pretty colors.  

 
One little bit of exciting news (to me it is) is that Monday morning I'm finally going to the eye doctor to get my eyes back!!  I'm so dramatic but y'all, I have been wearing glasses since the end of October and I'm done.  I've been out of contacts and the doctor would not order more until I came in for a yearly exam.  Ugh.  Long story short...the delay in getting in was due to out of pocket expenses and insurance.  Anyway, I like having the option to wear contacts or glasses.  God bless everyone who can wear glasses everyday and it not drive them crazy.  My daddy is one of them.  Momma was too.  I just can't.  Maybe one day I'll change my mind but for now, bring on the contacts!!  So yes, Monday is the day and I can't wait!

I just got a text message from my BFF Marilee that her daughter Cassie is going to be induced tomorrow.  This is her first baby (a girl) and tomorrow is also Cassie's birthday.  So exciting!!

Happy Friday

Its Friday Y'all!!!! We made it through the week and guess what?  Its a three-day weekend!!!!!  I don't know about y'all, but you know this girl loves to get an extra day to sleep in.  I'll have my babies tonight but then they'll leave for their dads around lunch tomorrow.  Just a one night stay and back Sunday evening.  Woo Hoo!  Saturday I'm taking my friend Callie to try on and order a bridesmaid dress for a wedding she's in later in the year. She had some minor surgery and is still sore to drive so I'm going to take her.  We may or may not also do a little shopping while we're out and about.

Friday Favorites

Baked Chicken

This is my momma's baked chicken.  I made it earlier in the week and it was just what I needed.  I always feel a little closer to her when I make one of her dishes.  Miss her so much...

Cheer Camp

 Bella had 3 days of cheer camp this week.  Wednesday they had a short performance for parents so we could see what they had learned.  Bella is in the middle (white shirt).  They will also perform before the home football game on the 28th.  She loves cheering.

My Babies

No matter how old they get, I will always call them my babies.  Was lucky enough to have lunch with these two after Bella's cheer performance before I had to head back to work.  I posted this picture on FB and Instagram...love my babies.  

Fall

Its just right around the corner and I am getting more excited every day.  While I know the temps won't cool off for a while yet, it doesn't mean I can't decorate come September 1st!!  

Truth

A coworker of mine suffered a stroke last week  He was very lucky that his wife reacted quickly and got him to the hospital.  Had it happened ten minutes sooner, he would have driving home.  He went home 3 days after it happened and will require speech therapy.  Its another reminder that life is a gift and you have to live it up every day as if it were your last.  There will never be a perfect time to do anything really so do it today.  Have fun today.  Tell those you care about you love them.  Hug your babies every day. Let those little things wait and enjoy your time with your family.  Life can change in an instant.  I know this.  

Funny
