Mother's Day Weekend

This past weekend started with my work's annual Take-A-Child Fishing Tournament. We have been hosting this tournament for 17 years now.  Daddy brought Christopher to fish one year but when he realized he couldn't win because I worked for the Port, he gave that part up and started helping elsewhere at the tournament.  For several years, he passed out bait to all the kids.  This year, he stuck with me and helped me get all the door prizes ready.  Makenna was also able to join us this year.

My crew...

Bella and Christopher's cousins came out to the fishing tournament so Bella opted to go hang out with them so she could fish too.  I went to check on her before I got really busy.  Here's my little fisherman..

We had almost 300 kids show up for the tournament.  Not too bad considering it was Mother's Day weekend.  Jackson, Henry, Piper and Makennah all caught some fish and participated in the weigh in but didn't win the big prize.  They all had a lot of fun and plan to come back next year.

Sunday started with coffee and this delivered to me...
Cinnamon waffles minus the syrup and fruit.  Yum!

We spend the morning being lazy and after lunch we went to my dad's where Tony was cooking for the ladies.  I was summoned inside the house and told not to look out any windows.  After a few minutes, I was summoned back outside where this was waiting for me...

My boy had built his momma a fire pit!!

Inside....

I haven't fired it up yet because I want to remove the old pit that is on its last leg and made a pretty sitting area.  Or prettier than what is there now.  ha!  So, so proud of my son.  He is really taking off with his welding, getting better all the time.

Proud momma with her babies....

For the first time that I can remember, I bought Bella and I semi-matching dresses.  One of my blogs featured my dress a while back and I loved it.  It went on sale last week so I thought about getting it.  While I was looking, I just happened to catch a glimpse of Bella's dress so I decided to get both for Mother's Day.  Let's all say "awe" together....

This was also my first DADIM, although I didn't share it with the FB page however; I have been wearing a dress every day since, just haven't taken pictures.  See how bad I am at this.  I had every intention of doing so but work has been so crazy that I just forget to ask someone to snap a quick picture.

my sweet girl...

I also have to share with you the cute flower pot Bella made at daycare...
(psst...you can see the print of my dress I wore today)

This had more Jolly Ranchers in it but some little girl decided she needed them, hahahaha!

I brought it to work to use once the candy is gone.  It'll sit next to this flower pot Christopher made for me many years ago.  The sunflower is actually a pen :)

It was a good day and weekend spent with family.
We came back home and and topped off the weekend sitting outside for a little while listening to a little Merle Haggard :)

Hope all the mommies out there a great weekend with their babies.

No More Braces

The most exciting thing happened this week.  This kid right here in this picture with me..the one with his head down on his phone who looks thrilled to be at the orthodontist again...yep, that one right there got his braces off this week. 5 long years...

And here my dear friends is the result....isn't he just so handsome?  let me tell you, I had to work for this picture.  I threatened to tickle him into submission in the middle of Chick-fil-A.  He grinned at that because he totally knows I would do it.  I also reminded him that he should never argue or say no to his mother :).  He finally gave me this.  Oh I love it.

Before that happened. This happened Saturday.  The annual Take-A-Child Fishing Tournament hosted by Port Freeport.  My kids and Makenna helped this year and I managed to get pictures with all my help.  Kenna Bug was my partner getting the door prizes set up and making everything purdy while the kids fished.

Christopher has always helped out with bait.  He helps pass it out to the kids after they register and then usually rides around in a golf cart to pass more out.  He skipped the carts his year and hung around to help with other stuff.  I snagged him for our annual picture together.

I finally found my girl later on to get a picture with her. She was busy riding around on the golf carts having a blast and talking the guys AND girls into getting her snow cones.  #suckers

And look, Bobby Banana even showed up for our tournament...

The tournament is always so much fun.  A lot of work but worth it to see the kids fish.  We had a low turn out but I think the weather hurt us this year as well as it being Mother's Day weekend.  It was still a good tournament.

Sunday was Mother's Day, Tony cooked dinner at Daddy's for all the mothers in the family.  Oh it was sooo good.  We had grilled chicken, chops and sausage along with squash, zucchini and potatoes from his garden, green beans and mac n cheese.  Yummy!  I'm so disappointed in myself that I didn't get a picture with both my children but did manage to get this one with Bella.  It also happen to be the first day I participated in a "Dress A Day In May".

Day 10
Navy/White Maxi Dress

Day 11
Skirt - Sweet find at Macy's
Top & Shrug - Back of the closet
Sandals - Target
Necklace - Francesca's

I have to tell you about this skirt.  I love it!  I was trying something else on at Macy's and as I was coming out of the dressing room, I spotted this skirt on the rack of items to be hung back up.  It was the right size so I snagged it up to try on.  It was a win and I was super excited.  Its comfortable and super light and cute and just well, my favorite thing in my closet right now.

Day 12
Maxi Dress - Kohls
Denim Jacket - Maurice's last year
Shoes - Payless I think

Day 13
I had on a black maxi skirt and a t-shirt from American Eagle.
You can kind of see my skirt in this pic I posted on Instagram and my shirt in the first picture above with Christopher.  Those were the only pictures I had that day.

Two things...
1)  If you haven't read the book above, you need to!  I'm about halfway through this one and can't wait to get home to read more.
2)  I totally wore the black maxi skirt above two days in a row..GASP!!  I know, I know...pitiful isn't it.  I didn't go to work Wednesday because I was running Christopher to his appointments, etc., so yes, when I went back to Thursday, I wore it again but with a different top.

So Day 14 I didn't get a picture and Day 15 which is today, I'm totally in jeans.  Do you see a pattern of disappointment as far as DADIM goes this year?   Yeah, I'm not going to win the award for success in DADIM again this year.  Dadgumit.

So that about sums up what's been happening around here.  Hope everyone is doing well and staying dry.  Y'all have a good weekend!

DADIM

I'm not even sure this is worth a post but I'll go with it anyway.  I told you that I sucked at DADIM this year...and I wasn't kidding.  Here's the only other week I took pictures.  The last week of May I was on vacation at home so I pretty much wore jammies all day or was in comfy shorts and tees.

Here's my 3rd week...

Day 19
Dress:  Sunny Hearts
Jacket:  Maurices
Shoes:  Macy's
Necklace: Jewelry box!

Day 20
Outfit:  All from the back of the closet.
Shoes:  Dillards (you've seen those in the previous weeks)
Necklace:  Off a girl's neck!!
I really did buy the necklace I'm wearing off the neck of another girl.
I complimented her on it (at a garage sale) and she offered to sell it to me so I bought it!!
Its one of my favorite pieces.

Day 21
Dress:  Dillards
Shirt:  Back of the closet
Shoes:  JCP
Bella's outfit:  Back of the closet

Day 22
Dress:  Kohls
Same dress as Day 7 but with the necklace from Day 19.
This picture was taken that night at a birthday dinner for my dear friend Heather (left). Her niece Brittany is to the right of me.  We were a sweet little restaurant called Grape Taste.

And that does it for this year's season of DADIM.  Hopefully I'll do better next year.  That's my goal anyway.

Y'all have a good one!

A Dress A Day In May

I'm trying to participate in DADIM again this year, but I really suck at it this go round.  I picked up on the fifth day and here are my pictures for what was my first week...

Day 5
Dress:  Kohls
Cardigan:  The Limited
Shoes:  Dillards

Day 6
Dress:  Kohls
Cardigan:  Back of the closet
Sandals:  Clearance rack at Target

 Day 7
Dress:  Kohls (I see a pattern here)
Cardigan:  Target (another pattern)
Sandals:  Same from the day before
Necklace:  A precious Mother's Day gift from my Christopher when he was just  a little boy.

Day 8
Dress:  Target
Shrug:  Back of the closet
Shoes:  Dillards
Necklace:  Jewely box - Ha!   (I really don't remember)

All of these photos are courtesy of my co-worker Darlene.  She's quite bitchy in photographer mode.  I told her I didn't know if I could work with her anymore. She in turn said she couldn't work with snobby, out of control models. Do I look out of control?  LOL  Seriously, we have fun trying to come up with something different than the same ole pose everyday.  Some days I'm like, just take the dang picture.  Wearing the dress is easy, taking pictures is the hard part.  I take that back...remembering where I got everything is the hard part!  My memory is failing me more every day.

Anyway, that was it for my first week.  No dresses on the weekends and I only made 2 dress appearances last week and didn't take pictures either time. I told you I suck at it this year.  I'm off to a good start this week and hoping to keep it up.  Hey, I'm trying :).

Y'all have a good one and behave yourself!

DADIM - Weeks 3 and 4

Well I blew it these last couple of weeks.  I either wore dresses and didn't take pictures or I just slacked off all together....

Here's what I did get...

Day 21

All from the back of the closet...except my ring which is James Avery.
Mother's Day from my babies.  :)

Day 23
Back of the closet

During the week I wore the dresses...weekends I slacked off.  The last two days of the month I blew it as well with no dresses.  Total loser I know.

But it was fun participating in DADIM again this year and I will probably give it another go next year.  I did pick up a few fans along the way and let me tell you...they totally called me out when I wasn't in a dress!!  They looked forward to seeing what I would put together and what new I had added since last year (not very much).  It does make you get creative in putting your outfits together in trying to come up with something new.  :)

DADIM - Week 2

So I had a guy comment on FB that this whole dress a day thing was total nonsense.  I told him I would keep my true response to his comment to myself because it wasn't polite.  He then apparently deleted his original comment.  Guess he realized it wasn't nice.  It wasn't that big a deal, except that his comment involved my daughter which irritated me most.  Had he made that comment another day, it might not have bothered me as much.  It was just one of those days.  All I'll say now is...if you think its nonsense, don't look at the pictures or "like" them on FB or Instagram you idiot.

I think its fun...and heck, it makes me work a little harder at being creative with my wardrobe, which is kind of the whole idea.  Men, what do they know?  ;)

Day 13 - Little Black Dress
Earrings - Lola Kay Hood original.
Mrs. Hood was my social studies teacher in 7th grade.  Still love her.
Flip Flops - Forever Treasures

Day 14 -Bella asked for sparkles :)
Outfits - Target & Wal-Mart sale racks

Day 15
Dress - Palais Royal clearance rack!! Woo Hoo!!!
Jewelry - Brighton (Gifts from one of my BFF's)

Day 16
Partial loser.  Wore a skirt...no pics.

Day 17
All from the back of the closet and jewelry box!
Necklace is one of my favorite pieces from Sunny Hearts

Day 18 - George Strait's Birthday!!
For those that didn't know...
Dress - Sunny Hearts
(you really should go check them out, tons of cute stuff)
Necklace - Charming Charlie's
Kids - Mine.  You can't have them.

Day 19
Total loser.  No dress.

And there you have another week in A Dress A Day In May.  Two more to go...think I'll make it? Stay tuned to find out.

Y'all have a good one!
