This is a little overdue but I wanted to share with you a collage of pictures I put together from mine and Scott's (aka honey) first year together. We celebrated our anniversary (which is January 4th) by heading back to the place we went for our first date, Truluck's in Houston. Let me tell you, those people are awesome. At the end of our fabulous meal, and after we had chosen dessert, they surprised us with this....
How sweet was that! They also gave us a card that everyone signed wishing us a happy anniversary. I thought this was pretty sweet considering it was just a dating anniversary. It was a super chocolatey rich muffin with a cherry chocolate sauce poured over it. The dessert we had chosen is in the background....a coconut creme dessert that was light and fluffy. Total opposites but both very good.
Y'all, I absolutely adore this man and love him like no other. I can't imagine the rest of my life without him in it. I hate it when we are apart and miss him the minute we leave each other. I said it a year ago, I knew from our first date I was in trouble. Those butterflies still show up every time I know I'm going to see him. The excitement is real. I love being with him and having him by my side through the good, the bad and the ugly. He has found a home in my heart and in my children's heart. I hope that we continue to move forward and capture even more moments together.
I love you honey!

Making It Work
Relationships are hard work. Especially long distance relationships. Kudos to every military family out there and anyone else who is in a long distance relationship. Honey and I are a mere two hours away from each other but it has been a struggle and more times than not, the source of the arguments between us. I hate arguing. Hate it. Two hours is nothing when you have families oceans and continents apart from each other but when you are both working single parents, the plot most definitely thickens. I want our relationship to work. He and the boys are worth the fight. I'm too far gone and love him too dang much to walk away now. It scares me sometimes how in love I am with this man because the reality is, it has been a very short amount of time. However, at our age (especially mine since he is the young one here) I think you know what you want and don't want in a relationship and also know a lot sooner if a person is right for you and your babies.
When we are together, there is something magical about us and it is a beautiful thing. I waited a very long time for this man and I'm not about to run away because it gets difficult at times. Name me one relationship that doesn't? Friendships included. It all takes work, constant communication and willing participants wanting to work at it. Thankfully honey is willing to fight just as hard as I am. We may butt heads but we always talk it out.
With all that said....I am missing him like crazy and can't wait to see his handsome face again.

This Man
I'm sitting here thinking about this amazing man who has walked into my life. This man has made me feel more special in the last few weeks than any other time in my life. This man treats me like a princess when I am with him, and stands tall and proud when he is next to me. This man tells me every single day how beautiful I am just by being me and that I have flipped his world upside down in the best possible way. This man takes my breath away every time I see him or when I recall a special moment we have shared. This man calms me just enough to still feel the butterflies when he takes my hand as we walk together. He is comfortable. He fits. He is gentle, caring, sweet, nurturing, hard-working and a jokester, but always respectful to me. This man said it best the other day...."there is something about us that is shaping up to be an absolutely wonderful love story". I have discovered with this man that butterflies do still exist and that it is very possible to find someone you are absolutely crazy about and who you miss the very minute he leaves you.
I think I'm in trouble....
