Brewster

Almost a month ago my dear friend (and cousin by marriage) Amye Jo sent me this picture with the caption "do you want him?"

My heart melted and the "awes" set in so I asked about him.  This sweet little guy was abandoned.  Amye Jo's sister-in-law Denise found him.  She went through all the proper measures to see if he indeed belong to anyone but after 3 weeks of nothing, they decided to find him a good home.  Denise and Amye both already have dogs so Amye thought of me and kids.  I have always loved yorkies and always said if I were to ever give in and get a dog, this would be my choice.  Well guess what? Momma gave in and agreed to give this cute little guy a home.  Denise's daughter had taken him to College Station with her until they found him a home so we had to wait a week before we actually got him. Christopher knew and in fact, helped me make my decision but we didn't tell Bella.  Just in case I did change my mind or something happened and we ended up not getting him, I didn't want to get this girl's hope up.  So we set out to surprise her.

By the second day of said agreement, we had a name picked out for our little guy.  Brewster.  There were a few other names on the list but this was the only one that Christopher and I both liked.  It reminds us both of the movie "Six Pack" with Kenny Rogers.  He was a race car driver in the movie and his name was Brewster Baker.  Love that movie.

A few days before his arrival and while Bella was at daycare, the boys and I set off for PetSmart armed with a list to get supplies.  Lord have mercy I was overwhelmed!  Put me in a baby store and I can tell you what's good and what's not so good.  I can make recommendations.  At a pet store, not so much. I knew nothing.  That day I really started second-guessing my decision.  I mean seriously y'all...I knew more about babies when my son was born than I did about dogs.  Thankfully Amye helped me and the boys through a lot of it and we got out of there with most everything on our list included a tag with Brewster's name and phone number on it.

That weekend my nephew Paul and I went to pick up our little guy before the kids got home from their dads.  We decided to wait until their dad left to bring in the surprise so Paul and B hid in the backyard until he left, I then texted him and in he came with Brewster.  Bella thought it was Jeff's dog Abby.  We told her it wasn't Abby and she said "we have a puppy!!!" and asked if we could keep it.  We told her yes and she got so excited.  For the first few days Brewster was with us, she called him "Rooster".  I loved it but somebody corrected her one day and she picked up on it and has said his name right from there on.  Kind of made me sad.

To say this dog is loved is an understatement.

Its been an adjustment for everyone but we all love this little guy so much.  One of my hesitations in taking him was that we were about to go on vacation for a week and we had no where to keep him.  We could have taken him to the beach house but he would of had to stay outside and I refused to do that.  He ended up staying at the vet (Doggie Hotel) for the week.  I felt so guilty leaving him after just having him for a week but we all survived.  He's paid me back by peeing in spots throughout my house but thankfully that is coming to an end.  Little stinker.  He goes back to the vet next week to get the rest of his vaccinations and then he will be set for a while.  Denise and family took such good care of him for the time they had him and I hope he will be happy with us.  We have really enjoyed having him join our family.
