Cowboy Rides Away....

"Cowboy Rides Away" as George Strait announces final tour

Singer George Strait performs at the 43rd Annual Academy of Country Music Awards show in Las Vegas

And that folks was all it took to send me into depression.  I knew this day would come and totally agree with a friend of mine who said she knew when she heard the song on his last album thanking his fans, it was his way of preparing us for his good-bye.  I totally thought the same thing when I heard it.  I've decided I'm going to put in for a 2-year vacation at work and become a George Strait groupie. Well, me and a few other family members.  It just won't be the same....dang it George!!
I've copied the article that caught my attention yesterday and sent me into my downward spiral of depression.  I most definitely will be seeing this handsome cowboy a couple more times.  He will be at Rodeo Houston this year for a special concert.  Have plans to make that and I will need to see him in the last leg of his tour in 2014...where oh where will I go??  Guess we'll find out soon enough, won't we...
NASHVILLE, Tenn (Reuters) - "King of Country" George Strait announced his final tour on Wednesday, but said he wasn't retiring and would go on making records for as long as he could.
"I've decided I'm not going to tour anymore after these next two years," Strait, 60, told a news conference at Nashville's Country Music Hall of Fame.

"Don't think I'm retiring because I'm not. I'm still going to make records as long as the label will let me. I'm going to write," the "Easy Come, Easy Go" singer said.  He added that he might do one-off performances and special events in the future, but said that "as far as a structured tour goes, after the last date in 2014 that will be it for the touring."

The "Cowboy Rides Away" tour will kick off on January 18 in Lubbock, in the singer's home state of Texas. It ends its first leg in Strait's hometown of San Antonio, Texas on June 1. Country singer Martina McBride will join Strait on the 2013 leg of his tour. Dates for 2014 have not yet been announced.

Strait has notched up 59 number one country singles, including "Unwound," "I Saw God Today," and "How ‘Bout Them Cowgirls," and sales of more than 65 million albums in his 30-year career.
But he said he always had in the back of his mind that when he turned 60 - as he did in May - it might be time to start thinking about coming off the road.
"I didn't want to book a tour and nobody came. It was important to me to pick that time (to quit touring) rather than go that long when something like that started happening," he said on Wednesday.
Strait also said he could change his mind down the line. "I believe I made the right decision but only time will tell. In 2016 I might say 'what a dummy!' And if that's the case maybe I'll reconsider."
Strait said he picked the cities on the "Cowboy Rides Away" tour because they are some of the favorite places he has played over the years and he wanted "just to go and be able to say thanks".
The country singer said he will be back in Nashville in October to begin recording his next album, noting that this is the longest period of time that he has gone without recording a new project. His last release was "Here for a Good Time" in 2011.

All Over The Place

Note...because I didn't want to go back and re-phrase what I had written, I thought you should know  I started this post Sunday evening...:)

So many things running through my mind. I'm emotional this evening. On the verge of tears. I don't know where to begin. Talking to one of my dearest friends today about moving on and moving forward with my life. Don't let fear keep me from passing something up that could give me so much happiness. Even if it just ends up being only six months of happiness, I should take the chance.  I hate being afraid but I am. I don't want to get hurt and I don't want others to get hurt, so my guard is up. Isn't there a saying or quote about fear?  I'm sure if there is I have it pinned on Pinterest...and I've probably given some piece of advice to others at one time or another.  I'm just horrible at listening to my own advice.  If you're a regular reader of this blog, you know this about me.  Can be hard-headed and stubborn....but not ALL the time.  Ha!  Of course the quote on my side bar fits too...

"Courage is being scared to death but saddling up anyway"  Ok John Wayne...I hear ya!

Giddy up!!

Continued Monday....

I went to our hometown football game Friday excited.  Rain did NOT cooperate.  I had a poncho.  A $5 poncho.  It held up about $5 worth of rain, if that.  Daddy and Lena bailed when the rain first started, which was close to halftime.  Wasn't bad.  I thought "I can handle this, this is ok".  Got a little harder...I was still fine.  But then the monsoon hit.  Lordy, Lordy...poncho failed.  Before I even made it downstairs I was soaked from the knees down.  I've never had water sloshing in my tennis shoes before.  That was interesting.  I think now would be a good time to mention that I absolutely do not like wearing wet jeans.  By the time I made it back to the car, I looked like a drenched rat.  Felt totally bad because I was keeping my peeps updated on the game via Facebook.  I'm sure if I had held out long enough, the rain would have slowed and I would have been fine.  Oh well.  Got home, got changed and then cleaned up the water trail I left throughout the house between me and the poncho.  It was fun...and would do it again.  Just glad the babies weren't with me.  Chris would have been loving it.  Miss Bella...not so sure how she would have handled it.  Not sure I want to find out either.  Ha!  Our guys won the game by the way :).

A big huge announcment at work Friday left me in a daze and pretty much in shock the rest of the day.  My boss is leaving us.  She has been with the Port for 20+ years.  I have been here 15+.  I am still in shock.  The Port was already in a transitioning period when she dropped this bomb, so we are all just kind of walking around wondering what's going to happen.  For me, its not just work, its personal as well.  She has been so much more than a boss to me.  She has been a friend, like a sister at times.  She was with me at the hospital when my son took his last breath, sat on the floor in the bathroom and cried with me when I found out just how serious mom's cancer was, helped me fight and stand up for myself (and my kids) when my divorce was staring me in the face and to some degree, has helped me find myself again.  Reminding me that in order to take care of my kids, I also have to take care of me and its ok to do something for myself every now and again.  In fact, its what started my latte Fridays.  It was early in what was one of the final chapters of the Jeff and Missy story...we were separated.  I was having trouble, pity parties all the time, feeling sorry for myself, blah, blah, blah.  You get the point.  Heck, I'm sure you read about it.  We were talking one day...and she told me I needed to start doing one thing for myself each week.  Could be anything I chose...splurge on dinner somewhere that's a treat, buy a movie, pick up Chick-fil-A, a new lip gloss, something from the $1 Spot at didn't matter just as long as it was for me.  And so the tradition of caramel latte Friday's began.  I decided that would be my reward to myself on the Fridays I worked for getting through the week.  A pat on the back if you will. Sometimes I treat myself on the Fridays I'm off as well but not all the time.  So now you know the story. Its the little things.

As I was picking up at the house yesterday before Hurricane Bella made landfall again...I was putting some jewelry away, stuff I allow Bella to play with and wear. I have quite the collection. Love all my pieces. Love that I have friends and family that come to me when they are looking for something to go with an outfit. Missy will most likely have something! But like every girl, I feel you can NEVER have enough. One of my friends has been wanting me to have a jewelry party. She's been after me for almost 2 years now. She sells the Lia Sophia jewelry. I think I might finally give in to her and give it a whirl. I mean really...what's more fun than having a bunch of girls over to drink cocktails and shop jewelry? And I'd be lying if I said I wasn't curious to see this line of jewelry.

Did you see what the temps are supposed to be in the evening this week?  Well...for southeast Texas?  Shhh...don't say it too loud but its showing we'll drop to the high 50s at night.  Giggle, giggle...I might have to build a fire!!  My boss just pointed this out to me.  She was shocked I didn't already know.  Quite frankly I was shocked I didn't know either.  So this means the girls at work will really be on me to cook for them.  :)  We were just talking about it at lunch today.  Been a while.  Have to keep them happy or they might appoint someone else the beloved "Paulita" title.  I can't have that happening!

I will leave you with this...and yes I am reading it and taking it in :).

So many good songs on the radio these days...and this is no exception.  Hunter Hayes is such a cutie pie and I do believe he has struck gold with this latest tune.  I am absolutely in love with it!  I think its safe to say that every girl hopes for and dreams her Prince Charming feels this way about her.  Such a beautiful love song.  Hope you enjoy it!

You know I'd fall apart without you
I don't know how you do what you do
'Cause everything that don't make sense about me
It makes sense when I'm with you
Like everything that's green, girl I need you
But it's more than one and one makes two
So put aside the math and the logic of it
You gotta know you're wanted too

I wanna wrap you up
Wanna kiss your lips
I wanna make you feel wanted
I wanna call you mine
Wanna hold your hand forever
And never let you forget it
Yeah I, wanna make you feel wanted

Anyone can tell you you're pretty
And you get that all the time, I know you do
But your beauty's deeper than the makeup
And I wanna show you what I see tonight

When I wrap you up
When I kiss your lips
I wanna make you feel wanted
I wanna call you mine
Wanna hold your hand forever
And never let you forget it

'Cause Baby I, wanna make you feel wanted
As good as you make me feel
I wanna make you feel better
Better than your fairy tales
Better than your best dreams
You're more than everything I need
You're all I ever wanted
All I ever wanted

And I just wanna wrap you up
Wanna kiss your lips
I wanna make you feel wanted
and I wanna call you mine
Wanna hold you hand forever
And Never let you forget it
Yeah I, wanna make you feel wanted
Baby I, wanna make you feel wanted
'Cause you'll always be wanted

Dear Lord

"So far today, God, I've done all right.  I haven't gossiped, haven't lost my temper, haven't been greedy, grumpy, nasty, selfish, or over-indulgent.  I'm very thankful for that.  But in a few minutes, God I'm going to get out of bed. And from then on, I'm probably going to need a LOT more help.  AMEN."

Always been a favorite of mine....tacked on my bulletin board at work.  :)

Have a good one.

Football Time in Texas

Um yes, this would be ME...
Nothing makes me happier (well maybe some things ;)) than the start of football season and that also means LONGHORN FOOTBALL!!  Ok well, when I get to watch them that is...thanks Longhorn Network and Dish Network for nothing.  Have found some really cute things on Pinterest related to my beloved Longhorns...
Aren't these beautiful?  I have never seen anything like it before...gorgeous!
I love, love, love this game day dress!  My sweet cousin Sharla makes these dresses.  This is not one of hers but I guarantee you if I sent her this picture, she could do it.  I would love to have a dress for the Longhorns and my beloved hometown Wildcats.  :)
Love the crown...
But I think I like this one even better....
Headed to Needville this evening to catch some Jays football.  Its Parent's Night and I haven't missed this night the last two years.  JT's senior year and I know my cousin is beaming with pride for her son.  Hard to believe he's a senior.  Again, I must have blinked.
Hate that I'm missing the first home game for our Wildcats, especially since we're playing those people from Clute.  Oh is going and said he would keep me posted on the game.  Next Friday we're at home again and I definitely plan on catching that game.  Can't wait to get my purple on!  Side kids will be with their dad next weekend....hmmmm, what kind of trouble do you think I can get into?  Hee hee....
Have a good one!

Have Mercy

Have a beautiful Friday with those gorgeous pictures in your head. :)

Cowboys and Angels

My new favorite song is by Dustin Lynch, who is a purdy handsome guy...not a handsome as George Strait but still good looking ;).

Here's the video and the lyrics are below.  Give it a listen...good tunes!

Cowboys and Angels

There's a want, and there's a need
There's a history between
Girls like her and guys like me
Cowboys and angels

I've got boots, and she's got wings
I'm hell on wheels, and she's heavenly
I'd die for her, and she lives for me
Cowboys and angels

We ride side by side
A cloud of dust, a ray of light
My touch is her temptation
Her kiss is my temptation
She's sweet, I'm wild, we're dangerous
Cowboys and angels

Not sure why her path crossed mine
Accident or grand design
Or maybe God just kinda likes
Cowboys and angels

We ride side by side
A cloud of dust, a ray of light
My touch is her temptation
Her kiss is my salvation
She's sweet, I'm wild, we're dangerous
Cowboys and angels

There's a want, and there's a need
There's a history between
Girls like you and guys like me
Cowboys and angels

Tuesday After Labor Day

I'm standing outside the dentist office trying to thaw out and wake up. Bella is having some work done today. They had to put her under IV sedation. My eyes feel like they pricked me with that little margarita cocktail they gave her to put her to sleep. Allergies giving me fits this morning so I took something. Bad idea. Not sure what's worse...the sneezing fits, itchy watery eyes and runny nose or fighting to stay awake? They will have her about an hour and a half. She's been back for almost an hour now.

Did you know that we are officially in September now? I look forward to it every year. Now we just need the cool fronts to start making their journeys across the states and stay strong enough to push through Texas! I'm so over the hot weather.

Well I guess I'll go back inside with Daddy and freeze some more. I could so lay down and take a nap right about now.

Have a good one.
